Better Way to Exfoliate

A Better Way to Exfoliate: Exfoliating gel

There are two ways to exfoliate.
One is through physical exfoliation and the other is though chemical exfoliation

We need both to exfoliate properly.

Why?

Here is why, if you prompt to physically exfoliate without chemical exfoliation
it's like scrubbing a grain of salt to tenderize piece of meat.
It will damage your skin.

Chemical exfoliation solution should be apply first before you apply a physical exfoliation

The only problem with chemical exfoliation is finding the right products that will give you the exfoliation you need without over frying your skin.

Let's Dig in deep.

maybe you're already doing the two step mention above without realizing.
have you ever used any of this....

Physical exfoliate:

Physical exfoliator

Chemical exfoliator

*all images are from google*

Physical Exfoliator - Anything that exfoliate the skin with use of force and friction
Chemical Exfoliator - Anything that exfoliate the skin with the use of chemical.

Maybe you are already doing this without realizing....

Using kojic acid before using salt scrub - sound familiar??

Recently I have been doing both but what I've noticed is how dry or irritated my skin is after.
recently I discover this product (please know that I am not referring to any specific product line rather talking about the whole exfoliation gel in general) .

Why is this better?

The science behind it is simple , The product is compose of ingredients that reacts to your skin oil and dead skin cell.

So ang ginagawa niya is palalambutin niya yung area kung saan mo nilagay yung product. if it happens na dun sa area na yun e puno ng skin oil it interact with the oil to produce this soft like chemical scrub. and as you physically exfoliate using your fingers or hands the friction are removing the soft dead skin cell.

so paano mo malalaman kung gaano kadaming dead skin cell ang natagal?
observe the formed scrub... the darker it looks the more dead skin ang natagal.

How does it feel?
If feels soft moisturize and clean 😙

So Far I've been using the product for 2 months na and I haven't seen any negative effect "sa balat ko" I do not want to recommend the brand that I am using kasi naka Thai at Korean yung ingredients niya and procedure for use 😐 and alam niyo naman ako.... I will only recommend a product or procedure if I know details about you and the brand.

oh yeah, if you happen to be hairy you would really need to wash this off with lukewarm water as soon as you finish.

Want me to recommend you a skin routine?

Get to know your skin better

This is a Informative post: Get to know your skin better

When people ask me what Skincare routine or products do I use, The first thing I ask back is this "who is your skin?" most are bewilder by my question. parang ngyun lang nila narinig.
When I ask them what is your skin type, skin complexion, undertone, skin sensitivity, Skin history?

"HA?!" "HATDOG" 😂😂

Knowing this information is essential to discover the best skin routine.
I understand lahat naman tayo misinformed at a point so I'm not condemning anyone here
I am sharing this research because like you I was misinformed before...

Rule 1: Don't romanticize pain with love - Same with skincare! Using harsh product is skin hate not skincare

Skin Type:

How to Know: Wash your face with mild cleanser
  • Dry Skin - Is when you find your skin either always flake or stiff upon washing your face.
  • Oily Skin - is when you find yourself glossing minutes after you just washed your face
  • Combination - is when you find parts of your skin - a. Some parts glossing, some parts dry b. some parts glossing, some parts normal. c. some parts dry and some parts normal.
  • Normal - Is when you oil but not excessively at the end of the day and remain dewy most of the time
Understanding your skin type

Knowing your skin type is essential to know what kind of ingredients should you avoid and hunt for in a product.

 Cleanser Type:
Oily: Gel Cleanser, Foam Cleanser , Oil Cleanser, Clay Cleanser, Powder Cleanser, Bar Cleanser.
Combination: Gel Cleanser, Foam Cleansers, Oil Cleanser, Clay Cleanser, Bar Cleansers

*just check the ingredients kung meron kahit isa sa mga namention base sa skin type mo*

Moisturizer:

  • Gel : combination to oily skin type
  • Creams : Dry to combination skin type
  • Liquid/lotion : combination skin type and, depending on the formulation, some oily skin types can use liquid/lotion type of moisturizers
*Normal Type - kahit ano base your preference na lang sa ingredients

Humectant dominant/based moisturizers:
    • Moisture-drawing ingredients great for all skin types, especially oily skin types
    • Draws water to skin cells to keep skin hydrated
    • Binds water to the skin to help keep it on the surface
    • Absorbs very quickly
    • Lightweight consistency
    • Look for: Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin, Honey, Aloe Vera
    • Think: Gel formulas
Emollient dominant /based moisturizers
    • Space fillers- great for normal, dry, and combination skin types
    • The lipids and oils fill in all the cracks on the skin, helping smooth out the surface of your skin and helps repair your skin’s barrier
    • Creamy consistency
    • Look for:  Silicone (Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone), Lanolin, Shea Butter, Squalane, Grape Seed Oils, Ceramides, Rosehip
    • Think: Light cream or light lotion formulas
Occlusive dominant/ based moisturizers
    • Moisture sealers - mature, dehydrated, dry skin types
    • Occlusives are thicker in consistency
    • Blocks the evaporation of water- perfect for dry skin
    • Look for: Mineral Oil, Lanolin, Beeswax, Olive Oil, Shea Butter
    • Think: Balms, thick creams

Skin Complexion and Undertone
- This is important to know kasi I have talked with friends who complains na ang dull ng itchura nila and they should find a good product soon. not realizing that they are just wearing the wrong color of clothes.

Complexion
  • Type I: Light skin that always burns and never tans.
  • Type II: Fair skin that usually burns, then tans.
  • Type III: Medium skin that may burns, but tans well.
  • Type IV: Olive skin that rarely burns and tans well.
  • Type V: Tan brown skin that very rarely burns and tans well.

Undertone colors: warm, cool and neutral.

Warm: If the base tone of your skin is yellow or gold, you have warm undertones.
Cool: If you see hints of blue, pink or red, then you have cool undertones.
Neutral: If there’s a mixture of both warm and cool hues, or your undertone is the same color as your actual skin color, then you fall into the neutral category.

*** We should point out that another misconception concerning undertones is that fair-skinned girls can’t have warm undertones or dark-skinned women of color can’t have cool tones. ***

So....Who is your skin?

Skincare : Rejuvenating Set 101

Rejuvenating Plus Set Review

I'm not a blogger but I have noticed that some of the people I meet online who love skincare as much as I do
are misinformed or not informed about the pro's and con's of the said product.
And as a skincare junkie I need to share what I know.

No Chaser straight talk. Does the product work? CAPITAL YES!!
Would I recommend it? CAPITAL NO, Why? allow me to break it down for you

About Me:

First let me tell you a little information about me that can further help you in assessing my review.

Since hindi naman lahat ng tao e pare-pareho , knowing a little bit about my skin, complexion and etc can help you assess if my review and recommendations would be applicable to you. I am sharing because I am caring and hindi kita pipilitin kung ayaw mo sa akin 😅😆😂.

Skin Type : Normal { It is important to know your skin type before deciding if you should or shouldn't use a product}

Skin Type:
  • Dry Skin - is when you find your skin either always flake or stiff upon washing your face.
  • Oily Skin - is when you find yourself glossing minutes after you just washed your face
  • Combination - is when you find parts of your skin - a. Some parts glossing, some parts dry b. some parts glossing, some parts normal. c. some parts dry and some parts normal.
  • Normal - Is when you oil but not excessively at the end of the day and remain dewy most of the time (So yes! Isa ako sa gising at may hawak na balde nung ng pasabog si lord ng kaswertehan)
Understanding your skin type
(Image from: happyskincare.com.au)

Rejuvenating set is mostly recommended for oily skin. but not for the other three types.
Why?:

If your skin is already dry, using this will cause further dryness might as well opt for a derma appointment and do a one-time effective chemical peel with concentration appropriate for your skin.
If your skin is a combination, using this won't guarantee you a positive result. since we don't know if the chemical % is right for your type
If you're normal, why would you even? want to remove acne go to derma for an acne injection or facial... want to lighten your scars go to derma, there are less harmful ways to exfoliate...

Spend your money wisely but please don't sacrifice the health of your skin to save a couple of bills.

Skin sensitivity : 6 out of 10 (10 being the most sensitive)
Skin Complexion : Medium Skin
  • Type I: Light skin that always burns and never tans.
  • Type II: Fair skin that usually burns, then tans.
  • Type III: Medium skin that may burns, but tans well.
  • Type IV: Olive skin that rarely burns and tans well.
  • Type V: Tan brown skin that very rarely burns and tans well.

***Your complexion will give you a hint on how your skin will react to certain products. if your light skin expect that as soon as you put the product you're gonna be the next majin boo.***

History before trying the product: Before I tried this product I was using ponds as my cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen (I'm not compatible with the product since I kept getting acne (one at a time) and was planning to go back to Cetaphil once this experiment is over). One week before I tried the product I stop using my regular facial wash and started light washing with kojic acid (swipe your wet hands 3 times in the bar of kojic and then lathering it then use it as your cleanser).

Reson for Using: I have a theory that I want to answer. Madalas nakakakita or nakakabasa ako ng review about how effective it is, syempre ayoko naman kontrahin ng bongga baka sabihin sino ka ba? anong karapatan mo higin ang bagay na pinag damot mo? 😂😂😂. So here I am ...

The problem with bloggers/vloggers who use the product is this, most of them who use the product is an active derma patient so meaning na cocorrect ni doc yung issue na nagagawa ng product others on the other hand are paid sponsors . so hindi naman sa paninirang puri but I've watched this video kung saan the thumbnail for the video review is suppose to be her before and after photo.  The first photo is full of acne tapos the second one is so flawless. If I am suffering from a breakout jusko girl tatalon din ako sa pagbili kasi naman napaka convincing. but the funny thing is the video was uploaded let's say today March 1 and she said na she used the product for a certain period of time. If you would go back to all her videos before that you are likely to see na she never had such acne. plus when you browse her content she always use the title "How I Got Rid of my acne" 😕 girl! effective marketing pero paano naman yung mga kapatid natin na ng susuffer sa acne talaga? Please don't feed on people insecurities to get them to watch your videos 😔 I know how it's like to be so desperate na you'll hold on to anything that promises you good result. and in this case, it is likely to give you a negative one 😢

why did I do it? Since we are subjected to ECQ I figure this is the best time I can use the product. less sun exposure and if the result are bad I have the time to heal without subjecting myself to the walk of shame XD

The product:
Rejuvenating set is a form of chemical peel. technically what it does is burns the top layer of your skin to promote a change in the second layer thus making it appear like it's new, young and less traumatized by scars and pigmentation.

Time: The maximum days as a standard advice of Dermatologist to make your skin exfoliate and becomes brighter is 30 days. however please take note that this is only applicable if the said derma had seen, evaluated and approved the use of this product for your skin. since cases differ from person to person.

What the product includes :

Kojic (the acid), Toner (the liquid chemical solution) , cream (the cream chemical solution, Sunscreen ( still a chemical solution with SPF) put them together harsh chemical that can burn your skin.

kung babasahin niyo yung box. even the box will tell you to first consult your derma for approval at may I highlight the disclaimer in the box "By purchasing you accept full responsibility". guys... chemical peel is not something we should do at home .

Why Am I Against using it

I think people are hyping this product because it produces a glassy skin result. if you are to watch certain reviews about this kind of set you'll hear common claims like :

1. natangal talaga yung pimples ko
2. natangal yung acne marks ko
3. ng glass skin ako
4. nawala ang pores ko

but what they failed to consider is...

1. the chemicals in the product aims to dry your skin (with the acne). meaning if you put it in an acne yes mag dradry talaga siya but the question is... once the skin recovers from the solution, will it remain spotless or would you have to continue using the product to make it work? if the answer is the second one... edi ng lolokohan lang tayo dito... what your doing is removing layers and layers of your healthy skin to dry the acne and as soon as you stop, guess who's back?
2. Chemical peels are done to remove acne marks - kaya effective yung product pero its a short term solution with a long term adverse effect if not done properly. have you even consider the ingredients in the product? what are the percentage used in each are they the right amount for your issue? plus the fact that you have to use it for several days. your skin doesn't deserve this ... if you go to a derma they can mix the right solution for you put it in your face for a day and achieve the same result with less stress to your skin.
3. Glassy skin...
ok don't get me started on this. Glassy skin thread started in Korea. and guess what Korea is cold. when Korean put moisturizers in their faces the excess moisture stays in their face making it look glassy.

Using this product would surely give you the glassy looking skin you are aiming for... but the only problem is.. Glassy is not always healthy (tulad ng karupukan is not always maawain)

Ok try this... go to google image and search burned skin. noticed how shiny the burnt skin was? notice something similar?? - okay so you achieve your glass skin dream but in a couple of weeks or months as soon as your skin recovers it will return to its normal state (pero dahil na sanay ka na sa mga toxic na nakapalibot sayo, feeling mo toxic is good... the same way na feeling mo painful is effective diba?) ... so anong gagawin ng ating kapatid? gagamit ulit.... mag dedeep peel ulit siya ng bongga kahit na healthy na si skin...

look chemical peeling is not bad, its used by a lot of professionals to treat different skin issues but please go see a professional to do this. don't lose your skin elasticity by frying your skin with active chemicals. (I'm aware all products have chemicals but this is chemical 2.0 tinalo si sarah G.).

4. I'm not sure about this... I noticed na pag tuyo mukah ko oo parang poreless pero pag ng oily ako naeemphasize siya... not sure if its just me. but the feeling I hate is I can feel how dry my skin is after using the product.

My Experience

I bought it during ECQ I simply check shoppe contact the seller pay and had it deliver the next day.

I started using it March 21,2020

the moment I used it's kojic in my face i felt my face going dry.

the second step is toner and as soon as I put on the toner it burns (toleratable) tumapat pa ko sa fan para mas mabilis siya matuyo.

I was dying to use the sun cream thinking maybe it will sooth the burning .. but wrong again. the sun screen upon checking has acid in it too. (i did this morning and night)

Second day to fourth day

As soon as I woke up I checked the mirror and I felt pain beside my lips. guess what... ng babalat na siya... nice ha... mabilis

so I jump to wash my face nung binabasa ko na ng tubig ung face ko I felt other parts of my face throbbing. as soon as I put the lathered kojic in my face ... ang sakit parang napaso ng very very light yung balat ko.

still i was dedicated so I put on the toner tiis ganda . and the cream
on the fifth day di ko na kaya sobrang hapdi na ng mukah ko.

so I opt to pause the experiment muna.

I used my gentle facial wash pero kahit yun mahapdi.

after two day di na mahapdi yung face ko and i noticed na kumikintab ng very light yung face ko.

during the two days my face was peeling and sobrang kati

seventh day

I used the set again and this time like day one walang hapdi much

eight day
I used the set again and this time i noticed that the same area where I stared peeling on the first day ng peel again. (so it means it peels the skin even if its new.. hmmm un even peeling)

9th day

my face was itchi, peeling and red. I still used the set kahit sobrang hapdi na

10th day last day

the peeling become milder and glassy na yung skin ko
but as I was observing it. its not the korean glassy like (yung parang ng babad sa moisturizer) rather glassy because the skin is new due to burning.

Tapos yung pagkakintab niya e parang kintab ng ulo ng kalbo potek 😔 to be honest it was annoying and hindi maganda tignan sa salamin 😩

Recommendation and Conclusion

DID it work?

YES , it serves it purpose. it gave you a deep chemical peel

Will I recommend it?

No, there are better and healthier way to give your skin a deep peel without subjecting it to this torture.

If you used this product and sasabihin mo sakin na wala kang naramdaman... It only means na nasobrahan ka na (alam mo yung feeling pag paulit ulit ka na lang sinasaktan at naiimune ka na - parang ganun  😂😁 )

What I suggest?
Go to a professional (dermatologist doctor), gamitin niyo yung health cards niyo 😊 one time deep peel if iapprove nila. if not you can always opt for a healthy and mild chemical peel such as the THE ORDINARY Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% which is compatible with all skin types and does the same job without over peeling.

What If I really want to use ?

If you can't avoid and would want to use the said product then please observe proper protocol :
1. Avoid the sun - if you use the product, avoid direct sunlight, if you need to go out wear sunscreen 50spf PA++++
2. Less is more - do not over apply the product, specially the toner, one swab per area is enough!
3. Do not jump from product to product - I know we skinjukies love to test other products. but if you are in the process of using this product. don't use other product along with it. (reason is this, the product contain active ingredients diba if you happen to accidentally used a product na may ibang chemical din and it reacted to the ingredient the rejuvenating set has. your toast. If possible once you decided to switch products give your skin at least 1 to 2 days to rest.
4. Don't force peel the peeling skin - syempre mag babalat siya diba? nakakatempt talaga tulugan si skin at tuklapin yung skin na di pa ready mag balat. wag! itigil mo, your skin will remove the dead skin in its own way.
5. Know how to read your skin signs - please don't ignore the red flags! pag masakit na at ng susugat na STOP na hindi niyo po ikakabayani ang pag ubos sa product na yan! wag ka manghinayang sa 300 mas mapapagastos ka pag di ka nakinig sa balat mo

Want me to recommend you a skin routine?
